I love to travel. Not so much lately, due to financial constraints. But my fondest
memories etched forever in my mind would be these incredible countries and states.
Number one on my all-time adventures would be East and West Berlin. I stayed
at the Kepinski Hotel in West Berlin. Probably the most posh Hotel in all of West
Berlin. The room was a mind blower. Marble, Statues, etc. Oh yeah, the bed was quite
comfortable. :-) My friend Jana took me in the daytime all over East Berlin where
she resides. To cap off the two days I went to see Rammstein and Danzig perform in
Wuhlheide. A huge stage! Great show! You can find that on DVD now, titled "Rammstein:
Live Au Berlin".
Edinburgh, Scotland will always hold a special spot in my heart. I have been there
twice. Old, rustic and in some ways becoming more modern. The last time I was
there was in 1998 and stayed in Bonny Rigg, just outside Edinburgh. I stayed in most
decadent castle, Dalhousie Castle. Oh man, that was an experience in itself. Look,
visiting the Castle of Edinburgh, one of the most famouse in their country is awesome,
but staying for two days in a small castle like Dalhousie which had 25 rooms total was
quite surreal. They even made the dining room in the dungeon below.
London is an exceptional place to be. Lots of Indian food and just being in London is
exciting. Also went to Reading by train to the Reading Festival. For sheer relaxtion,
nothing beats Maui. The water, the quiet environment is what it's all about. Oh wait,
the food is killer too.
I have been all over the United States, and I would say that Atlanta, Austin,
San Francisco, Dallas, Ft. Wayne, and Cincinnati are my favorites. All for different
reasons. I rule out Los Angeles because I lived there for ten years and I love L.A.
as Randy Newman says. I also rule out New York due to being born and raised in Brooklyn and Long Island. I spent the first 26 years of my life there. Manhattan. Been there, worked there, so done that.- Jonathan L
